This round rosary center medal features a finely detailed profile of Saint Charles Borromeo (Latin: CAR. BOR. ROMAEVS), shown in clerical attire with a biretta, facing left in solemn dignity. The surrounding inscription reads: CAR. BOR. ROMAEVS CAR. ARC. MED., an abbreviation identifying him as Cardinal and Archbishop of Milan. His likeness is rendered in classical portraiture style, reminiscent of Renaissance medallions.
The reverse side displays an ornate script of the Latin word "Munitas" beneath a regal crown, symbolizing divine protection or fortification. Below it appears the Roman numeral MDC (1600), the likely reference to the era of the original medallion, accompanied by decorative flourishes and a stylized knot.
This medal measures 1 3/8 inches (approximately 35 mm) in diameter and is equipped with three connecting loops, ideal for use as a centerpiece in a traditional or heirloom-style rosary.
It is an exact replica of an antique or vintage medal, meticulously cast using the lost wax method, and is available in sterling silver and gold bronze finishes.
